Undi18 represents a significant milestone in Malaysian history, marked by the unanimous passage of the constitutional amendment on July 16 by 211 Members of Parliament (MPs). This historic success includes not only the lowering of the voting age to 18 but also the introduction of automatic voter registration and establishing 18 as the minimum age for Malaysian citizens to run for public office. These reforms are pivotal in shaping a young and vibrant democracy in Malaysia. This paper explores the implications of Undi18 and outlines the necessary steps to ensure harmony and peace in the nation. It delves into whether reducing the voting age will encourage greater participation of young people in politics and social discourse, as well as analyzing the advantages and drawbacks of granting voting rights to 18-year-olds. Additionally, the paper examines international experiences, focusing on the historical fight for voting rights and examining arguments both for and against extending voting rights to those aged 18 and below.
