Abstract

This article provides a critical analysis of the role of international institutions in shaping global security. It examines the importance of these institutions in addressing contemporary security challenges, such as terrorism, nuclear proliferation, cyber warfare, and climate change. While international institutions like the United Nations (UN), NATO, and regional organizations play a crucial role in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, and humanitarian assistance, they face numerous criticisms and challenges. These include issues of sovereignty, power imbalances, and the proliferation of non-state actors. Moreover, the rise of populist nationalism and unilateralism has undermined multilateral cooperation and eroded trust in global governance structures. Through a comprehensive evaluation of their effectiveness and limitations, this article seeks to identify areas for reform and innovation to enhance the collective response to global security threats.
