Legal Perspective in Handling Rempang Batam Indonesia Cases

Abstract
This research discusses land problems among Rempang residents. This research uses a normative regulatory research method, which means this research was carried out by conducting a literature study using secondary data in the form of primary legal documents, secondary legal documents and tertiary legal documents. The aim of this research is to find out what the status of public relations is on Rempang Island and to find out the conflict that occurred between the people of Rempang Island and BP Batam regarding the development of Rempang Ecotown. As a place for the development of national strategic projects, Rempang Island occupies a crucial position in relation to the state's objectives stated in the preamble to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, including advancing general welfare. In the development stage into a national strategic project, specific attention is given to the components of economic resilience which are evaluated as very crucial for increasing the welfare of the population through sustainable development. but in practice, as a result of the many forms of development carried out by the government on a large scale, there are often conflicts that give rise to legal protection. This article focuses on the current case on Rempang Island related to the Batam City Government's policy regarding the relocation of local residents due to the construction of the Batam Free Trade and Free Port (KPBPB) known as Rempang Eco City. This research means normative research using a historical approach and a conceptual approach. The result achieved is that there is legal certainty regarding every legal effort carried out by the government to relocate residents to Rempang Island in Batam City, which can provide illustrations and views. and a new understanding of the policies implemented by the government regarding the Rempang Eco City project
