Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of basic training programs for Sub Inspectors (SIs) in the Kerala Police and their subsequent influence on the service delivery mechanism. The Kerala Police, like any other law enforcement agency, plays a crucial role in maintaining public order and safety. The performance of Sub Inspectors, being frontline officers, significantly contributes to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the police force. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of performance metrics and qualitative insights from interviews and surveys. Key performance indicators such as response time, crime resolution rates, and community satisfaction will be examined before and after the implementation of basic training programs. Additionally, the study explores the perceptions and experiences of SIs regarding the impact of training on their skills, knowledge, and attitudes toward service delivery. The findings aim to provide valuable insights into the correlation between the quality of basic training received by Sub Inspectors and improvements in the service delivery mechanism of the Kerala Police. Policymakers, training academies, and law enforcement agencies can benefit from the research outcomes to refine training modules and enhance the capabilities of Sub Inspectors, thereby contributing to a more efficient and responsive police force. Ultimately, the study seeks to contribute to the ongoing efforts to optimize the functioning of the Kerala Police and, by extension, law enforcement agencies globally.
