Now-a-days emerging areas of Pharmacognosy are ecopharmacognosy, forensic Pharmacognosy and Molecular Pharmacognosy. Ecopharmacognosy results in sustainable use of natural products, leads to alternative strategies in order to preserve the nature for future generataions and also encourages insilico studies of active constitutents which leads to ecological thinking. Molecular Pharmacognosy helps in biodiversity conservation via intruding the biotechnology concepts like genetic engineering, tissue cultures in plants leads to disease resistant plants, preservation of gene information and pollution free production. Forensic Pharmacognosy helps crime investigations involved with plants. In other way it helps paleobotanists and plant anatomists to analyse the data in criminal inquiry.
