Abstract

This research paper investigates the implications of Demand Side Management (DSM) techniques to achieve demand supply balance in a Microgrid. The Microgrid under study consists of various energy sources, such as wind emulator, solar emulator, utility and storage system. The primary objective of the study is to optimize the energy demand and achieve a balance between the demand and supply of energy for effectiveness of Time of Use (TOU) tariff. DSM strategies controls the various loads according to user’s priority. Two Demand Side Management (DSM) strategies viz.  Peak Clipping and Valley Filling, are used to achieve this balance. The practical case study is taken for the implementation of the DSM strategies. The LabVIEW software is used to apply these strategies and analyze their effectiveness on the system under study
