Ayurvedic Management of Kaphaja Abhishyanda: A Case Study

Abstract

Abhisyanda is a very common infectious disease which affects the whole eye. 5 to 22% population are affected by ocular allergies. The eye is Tejomayi therefore, it has always had threat by shleshma(Kapha dosha).  Kaphajaabhisyanda is a disease which arises due to various kapha aggravating factors and due to contact with an infectious person. A 28-year-old male patient came to OPD with symptoms of swelling, itching, heaviness and sticky discharge from the eye for 3 days. He was treated with Pariseka, Bidalaka and Oral medication with GandhakaRasayana. Drugs used for Pariseka, Bidalaka and oral medication have anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties therefore, the patient gets significant improvement in 7 days of treatment.
